Christmas Meals: High Quality Food from Supermarkets

Being in a very busy period, buying food for our Christmas meals is very easy with all the home deliveries. Some items you can buy them well in advance and freeze them, some others are available only few days or a week or two before Christmas, or you need to order in advance. So I have picked few delicious options, and you can find meat  dishes for Christmas Day, and also fish dishes for who celebrates on Christmas Eve too. Whip out your shopping list and start taking notes.
This is a favourite of mine and it is the Christmas Dinner for 2 from Tesco. It comprises of turkey breast fillet wrapped in bacon, goose fat roasted potatoes, vegetables, pigs in a blanket, Yorkshire pudding, Christmas pudding with a brandy sauce, 2 Christmas crackers and a bottle of  Cru champagne. Perfect for a cosy meal while the Queen's speech is on. www.tesco.com
Generally you eat seafood and fish on the 24th of December, leaving the meat on the day after. This nice top side of  Scottish Salmon is by Aldi and it is available in Slightly Smoked Prosecco, Cranberry and Orange like the one in the picture or Lemon & Herb. www.aldi.co.uk
This scrumptious Sweet Cured Gammon with Muscovado glaze can be bought at Waitrose and you just pop it into the oven and finish it with the sachet of glaze included in the box 25 minutes before it is ready so that it gets that nice colour and texture. www.waitrose.com
This delicious Sharing Cranberry, Sage and Onion Bread with Camembert  from Aldi could be something for the 24th or something to eat on Boxing Day.  Put in the oven and while the bread will cook to perfection, the Camembert too will melted and you can dip the bread like a fondue. www.aldi.co.uk
This couple of items from Asda are very delicious and festive to be on the table. A Christmas Cracker made with British pork and turkey, roast veg and sprouts, all topped with ribbons of dry cured, oak smoked bacon. It is gluten free and it comes from the Extra Special Festive range.  Next to it the Extra Special Pig in a Blanket made with prime cuts of British pork, and wrapped in rashers of dry cured, oak-smoked bacon. This one as well is Gluten Free.  www.groceries.asda.com
This Seafood Platter is another of my favourite things at Tesco. It says that it serves 6 but I could eat the whole lot. It includes a Whole Lobster, Cooked and Peeled Prawns, Easy Peel Black Tiger Prawns, King Prawn Crevettes, Crab Claws, Crab Mousse Canapes, Cold Smoked Salmon, Hot Smoked Salmon With Honey, Finest Marie Rose Sauce, Lemon and  Parsley. And it comes in a beautiful slate plate that you keep and using afterwards. www.tesco.com
This is super luxury, but if you want to indulge, get to Fortnum & Mason, which by the way has got the best Christmas decoration outside its store, and take one of these gorgeous caviar tins, starting from £ 55.00 up to £ 1,750.00. That's pure bliss and also an idea for somebody who is a gourmet and has everything. www.fortnumandmason.com
Christmas can't be Christmas without desserts. Apart from the usual and traditional desserts like Christmas Pudding and Panettone (for the Italians ones) I love to see some variety. These two Buches are by Aldi and  you can choose either Sicilian Lemon Mousse with Raspberries and Pistachio or Belgian Chocolate Mousse with Salted Caramel and Toffee Pieces. Find them in the frozen food aisle. www.aldi.co.uk
These two Golden Chocolate Swirls from Asda are filled with salted caramel sauce, dairy free mousse in a shell of Belgian chocolate and are vegan. They come in box of two and they are perfect for ending a festive meal.  I love the golden dusting and you can find in the chill section. www.groceries.asda.com
Stollen is a cake like fruit cake and it is a traditional Christmas  pudding from Germany. Waitrose this year has brought to our tables the Heston from Waitrose Pistachio Stollen and it is absolutely delicious. It is filled with pistachio marzipan and the dough has raisins, cranberries and other dry fruits. Everything is flavoured with mixed spice and brandy. Put something different on the table. www.waitrose.com
Fortnum & Mason has sourced these amazing Panettoni in Italy, in a family run company that has been around for more than 150 years. As well as the traditional panettone you can taste the Gianduia one with hazelnut filling/. They are heavenly and  exclusive just for Fortnums.  www.fortnumandmason.com
It is very scrumptious the Tesco Finest Blackcurrant & Winter Spice Roulade with its meringue shell filled with whipped blackcurrant cream and spiced mulled wine flavoured sauce. Find it in the frozen food section. Just decor the tray where you will serve it with fresh raspberries and a drizzle of grounded pistachio. www.tesco.com
